Happy birthday, Princess Charlotte!
William and Kate’s only little girl turned 9 on May 2, and to celebrate, her royal parents posted a portrait on their social media page.
The Princess showed off her bright smile and looked very happy, which is a miracle considering the very tough year her family has had.
But royal fans immediately noticed something interesting about her outfit AND who her photographer was.

As the world knows, Kate Middleton, mother of Charlotte and her brothers George and Louis, is currently battling cancer. Since announcing her diagnosis, the young mother has received congratulations from all over the world.
But before that it was a different story. Kate Middleton’s disappearance from royal life was all anyone could talk about while conspiracy theories ran rampant. Rumors spread that she was in a coma, undergoing plastic surgery and even recovering from a broken heart after a betrayal by William.
The situation came to a head when the palace released a photo of Kate with all her children in honor of British Mother’s Day. While the initial reaction was relief that she was okay, things quickly escalated when the photo editors realized the image had been altered.
In other words, the photo was photoshopped!
Since the photo received so much scrutiny in the following days, it’s no wonder royal fans immediately noticed that Princess Charlotte was wearing the same red sweater in her birthday portrait. Guess again who took the photo? The same person behind the last portrait!

Kate Middleton and Prince William shared the new photo to mark their daughter’s last single-digit birthday on May 2.
The photo was taken by the Princess of Wales in Windsor in recent days. In the caption, the proud parents wrote: “Happy 9th birthday Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all the nice messages today.”
In the picture, Charlotte beams at the camera as she leans against a flowering hedge wearing a blue sweater, a matching blue denim skirt and the red sweater from before.
“Must be her favorite sweater!” one person wrote Trailer after I saw the photo X. Another follower assumed the move was intentional after spotting the new clothes; a subtle response to haters. “Well played,” they said wrote.
Is this photo also altered?
Of course, there were also plenty of jokes about whether this picture was photoshopped like the Mother’s Day portrait. To date, no expert has come forward to provide evidence that this is the case.
Charlotte’s partially missing sleeve on her cardigan was among the “editing errors” experts found when examining the Mother’s Day photo. Others included Kate’s missing wedding ring, Charlotte’s fuzzy skirt and Kate’s misaligned zipper.
Within 24 hours, the Princess of Wales admitted that she had edited the photo herself and apologized.
“Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. I would like to apologize for the confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”
