Prince William and Prince George Watch Football at Boys’ Night Out

Prince William took his eldest son, Prince Georgewhen his mother goes into town to cheer on her favorite soccer team, Princess Kate MiddletonShe continues her cancer treatments.

The father-son duo were spotted in the stands at Aston Villa’s match against Lille OSC during the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal match in Birmingham on Thursday, April 11. The pair could be seen pointing, standing and clapping as they watched Aston Villa ultimately beat their opponents 2-1.

William, 41, and George, 10, dressed to impress for the event. Both wore button-down shirts with sweaters and matching navy coats. George, on the other hand, wore an Aston Villa scarf around his neck.

George, along with his siblings Princess Charlotte8, and Prince Louis, 5, are currently at school for the Easter holidays. The holiday began on the same day that Kate, 42, announced she was being treated for an unknown type of cancer.

“By the time [of my surgery]My condition was believed to be non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, however post-surgery tests revealed that cancer was present,” Kate explained in a video message shared on social media on March 22. “My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment.”

Kate said that while the news was a “huge shock” for her and her loved ones, she and William “have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the benefit of our young family.”

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, as is the love, support and kindness that so many of you have shown,” she continued. “It means so much to both of us.”

Earlier this month, an insider told exclusively Us weekly that William “try[s]to be there for Kate and help in any way he can,” adding, “He does school work with the kids and spends time with them in the afternoons and evenings.”

The prince, who married Kate in 2011, is also spending time with Kate’s family during her recovery. William recently came to his mother-in-law, Carole Middletonfor a drink at a local pub.

Richard Eden, broadcaster Palace Confidential, said: “I’m told he stopped by a pub in North Norfolk at the weekend with his mother-in-law, who was reportedly staying with the Prince and Princess of Wales over Easter Email Pluswrote about the Daily Mail on Wednesday, April 10, noting that the meeting was “all very low-key and without much fanfare.” He just walked around the bar.”

In addition to battling his wife’s cancer, the Prince of Wales is also facing a possible ascension to the throne as his father, King Charles III, announced his own cancer diagnosis in February. In a recent opinion piece for The New York Timesroyal expert Tina Brown wrote that Charles’ illness brought William “frighteningly close” to the monarchy.

“The prospect of this, I’m told, is causing them great anxiety,” Brown continued, explaining that William and Kate had “hoped for years to raise their children out of the public eye,” but coming to the throne would change everything.

Despite their difficulties, William and Kate took a moment last month to thank everyone for the outpouring of support they have received as they navigate the next chapter of their lives.

“The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from the people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’s message,” said a statement from Kensington Palace Us on Saturday, March 23rd. “They are extremely touched by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for their understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”
