The mystical ‘run-in’, as it is known, officially began after the March international break and a hectic April that proved crucial in shaping the Premier League table.
In the 2023/24 season we are in the middle of the crisis and although there are still a few things to clarify, it has become clear which clubs will be fighting for what in the last month of the season.
Brentford and Everton have escaped the relegation battle and Sheffield United have slipped into the second tier, while at the other end Liverpool’s title dream looks a long way off after an unforeseen drop in results.
This is what the Premier League table looked like based on April results alone.
A postponed matchday 29 meant that there was not complete consistency across the division in terms of games played. While some played six times in April, Tottenham, for example, only played four games.
