Love tells Us Seeing Kotb, 59, behind the scenes on the NBC morning show “opens my eyes and says, ‘This is how it should be,'” adding, “You notice some celebrities are a little cold or a little withdrawn. “ in public and she’s not like that. And it seems to resonate much better with their fans or the people who are a part of it Today community.”
She continued: “It’s a good model of behavior. I learned this from her and didn’t realize it until now. She’s been doing this for so long that I thought she would get over it.”
Kotb came as Dateline Correspondent in 1998, ten years later she became co-host of the fourth hour of Today next to Kathie Lee Gifford. Kotb was promoted Savannah Guthrieco-hosted the first two hours of the show in 2018 and co-hosted Today with Hoda & Jenna with Jenna Bush Hager since 2019.
Love, in turn, became one Today Contributors May 2023. “It exceeded my expectations,” she said of working on the long-running series. “I came in really excited. It was a dream job. I mean, I’m already working on my dream job at Peloton and then I’m going to get an additional role at Peloton Today Show was something that came unexpectedly at the beginning of my career. I’m grateful for that.”
Since joining the show’s group of “absolutely amazing people,” Love said she has grown close to both Kotb and Third Hour of Today Co-host Sheinelle Jones. “Before I started, I asked them to go to lunch and the only thing they told me was that they have a rule that there is no crime between women,” she explained. “I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ And she said, ‘When you come in, that’s usually what everyone is vying for. ‘No, it’s like no woman-on-woman crime, and we hold each other up and support each other.'”
According to Love, that’s really what it’s like to be in a supportive environment Today. “Then there will be moments where I’m standing in the hallway and I’m just like, ‘What?'” she added. “I remember this one moment. I stand by my boss’s side Libby [Leist] And Carson Daly go outside. We hadn’t worked together yet, but he saw me on the show and said to Libby, ‘Ally Love, she’s the best.’ That was so nice to hear.”
