PBKS vs RCB: Adam Griffith Reveals What Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis Did Differently to Revive Bangalore’s Campaign

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a very crucial four-wicket win against Gujarat Titans (GT) in a thrilling IPL 2024 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 4.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to hold their nerve and secure a remarkable victory with 38 balls to spare despite suffering a scare during their 148-run chase against Gujarat Titans (GT).

This IPL 2024 encounter witnessed an explosive start from RCB openers Virat Kohli (42 runs off 27 balls) and Faf du Plessis (64 runs off 23 balls) as the duo smashed 92 runs in just 6 overs to give the hosts a win a perfect start against the GT. It was RCB’s best opening partnership this season.

Adam Griffith talks about RCB’s turnaround in IPL 2024

With their third consecutive win in the ongoing IPL 2024, RCB kept their playoff hopes alive. After the match, RCB assistant coach Adam Griffith attributed a change in the team’s batting approach, particularly since openers Kohli and Du Plessis, to the recent winning streak in the tournament.

Griffith said this was the result of their hard work in the second half of the season. After the big win over Gujarat, RCB moved to the 7th position in the IPL 2024 points table with 8 points from 11 games in the tournament so far. With their morale boosted, they are now aiming for a place in the top four.

Adam Griffith said in the post-match press conference: “The start of the tournament wasn’t great, especially in the power play. That’s what we really focused on. Recently we have made sure that we are working really hard to get the group off to better starts. Tonight was one of the better ones and it was nice to see the hard work come to fruition.”

Siraj is the leader of our group: Griffith

Before Du Plessis and Kohli’s explosive start, Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role in setting the tone RCB against GT. The RCB fast bowler made an immediate impact in the powerplay, swinging the ball effectively in Bengaluru and grabbing two crucial wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in the first four overs of the game against GT.

Griffith praised Siraj and said that the Indian pacer was the backbone of RCB’s bowling attack and described him as one of the most important players in the team. Griffith said goodbye with the words: “Siraj is the leader of our group. He is our most experienced bowler, especially with the Indian quicks and also with our international players. Making him run and bowl well, but not just that, it’s his body language, his aggression, his attempt to take wickets, he’s such an important part of what he does.”

Notably, RCB will play its last three matches on May 9 against Punjab Kings (PBKS), May 12 against Delhi Capitals (DC) and May 18 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2024. Well, RCB needs to win all the remaining matches to have the best chance of qualifying for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
