Mohammad Amir ruled out of Ireland series – report

Unlike others whose visas were processed smoothly, Mohammad Amir faced visa issues for the Ireland trip as his initial application was rejected. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not revealed the reasons behind Amir’s visa rejection.

The PCB and the Ireland Cricket Board are working together to resolve the situation by reapplying for the veteran Pakistan pacer’s visa. However, despite their efforts, Amir’s application has not yet been issued, leading to uncertainty about his immediate travel plans.

The PCB is in constant communication with the Irish Board to assist Amir with visa approval. However, Amir’s departure to Ireland is uncertain and there is no clear answer yet. There is discussion about whether he could potentially join the England team instead, but a final decision is still pending and expected soon.

Mohammad Amir will play a crucial role in the 2024 T20 World Cup

Mohammad Amir retired from international cricket in December 2020. However, he reversed his decision and rejoined the Pakistan team during a T20I series against New Zealand. The left-handed pacer took three wickets as Pakistan drew the series against a second-tier New Zealand team.

Pakistan appointed Gary Kirsten to white-ball cricket to prepare for the T20 World Cup. Kirsten will begin his tenure during the T20I series against England. Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside USA, India, Ireland and Canada for the upcoming ICC tournament in USA and West Indies.

Pakistan reached the final but lost to England by five wickets in the 2022 T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). They are among the three teams to have reached the knockout stages in the last two T20 World Cups. The Babar Azam-led team will be favorites to win the title this time.
