“One Day, Maybe When I’m Done with My Cricket…”: David Warner Reveals His Retirement Plans

David Warner is one of the most accomplished players in today’s cricket landscape. Warner began his international journey in 2011 and has achieved a variety of achievements including four over the course of 13 years ICC Trophies and a Indian Premier League (IPL) Title.

Warner’s retirement announcement earlier this year and departure from ODIs and Tests was a significant moment in cricket. However, the star player is not ready to hang up his boots as he continues to play T20Is and IPL. Warner had previously announced that he would then retire T20 World Cup 2024.

David Warner talks about his retirement

In a conversation about Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin On YouTube show Kutti Stories, Warner expressed his interest in settling in India after retiring from cricket. He revealed that he does not currently own a house in India and at one point had thought about buying one.

“I don’t have a house in India. I looked at a few stages. I am often asked if I would like to own a house here. One day, maybe when I’m done with my cricket, I want to come here and spend some time. Lifestyle is good. I am a people’s person. I go to the malls with my girls and embrace everything.” Warner said on Ashvin’s show.

Warner’s love for India and its culture is no secret. The Australian cricketer, who is often seen embracing Indian culture, mimicking movie dialogues and even adopting the style of Indian actors on the field, has made a name for himself among Indian fans. Warner praised her friendly nature and shared that he often goes out without security, a move some consider risky. However, he believes fans respect his privacy, understand when he is out with family and maintain a respectful distance.

“People say I’m crazy for going out without security and stuff. But at the end of the day people have a lot of respect. I think people come and ask for photos, yes. But if you go out without your kids and embrace the culture, I think people understand that and keep their distance.” explained the 37-year-old.
