Shortly after news of OJ Simpson’s death broke, rumors about the infamous football legend’s final words spread like wildfire on social media.
As you probably guessed, many suspected that OJ had made a deathbed confession about the most infamous aspect of Simpson’s bizarre life – the 1994 double murder for which he was arrested and later acquitted.
The trial became a national obsession and continues to play a large role in the landscape of American popular culture.
So it should come as no surprise that many, many, MANY tweets went viral claiming that OJ confessed to the murders of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman before his death.
OJ Simpson’s final words: Did he really confess to a double murder?
While it may be tempting to believe that the mystery has finally been solved decades later, there is no evidence that OJ confessed to anything in his final moments.
In fact, it’s been difficult to learn details about the 76-year-old’s final days – and that’s no coincidence.
According to several insider reports, Simpson’s fortunes went rapidly downhill after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year.
Nevertheless, he apparently had enough time to arrange meetings with the most important people in his life in his final days.
According to a new report from The New York PostAll five of OJ’s children were by his side when he died.
Two of these offspring came from his marriage to Nicole; They clearly harbor no ill will toward their father, who was acquitted of Nicole’s murder but later found liable in civil court.
OJ Simpson’s friends and family may have signed non-disclosure agreements
The post also claims that Simpson’s friends, family and medical staff were “forced” to sign non-disclosure agreements that would prevent them from discussing his final hours.
So we may never know what kind of message the football and television icon wanted to convey in his final moments.
OJ’s last video
However, we know that Simpson last public words were shared on X (formerly Twitter) on February 11th.
In addition to his predictions for Super Bowl LVIII, OJ shared an update on his health and admitted for the first time that he has been dealing with some medical issues.
“Hey, let me take a moment to thank all the people who reached out to me,” he said in a video posted to the father.
“My health is good. I mean, I’m dealing with some issues, but hey, I think I’m pretty much over it and hopefully I’ll be back on the golf course in a few weeks,” Simpson continued.
“But it was very nice to hear from you and those good, positive words. Thank you very much.”
We are sure that over time more information – including more unfounded theories – will emerge about OJ Simpson’s final words and final hours.
But it sounds like many details of his final days will remain unknown forever.
