OJ Simpson’s cause of death

Two weeks after his death, OJ’s death certificate was released, confirming that he had died of prostate cancer.

“On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer,” said a statement released by Simpson’s Twitter account Thursday.

“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you respect their desire for privacy and grace.”

OJ Simpson was a former football star who was accused and eventually acquitted of the brutal murders of his ex-wife and her friend in 1994. He was reportedly diagnosed with prostate cancer in February 2024 and was undergoing treatment

Simpson’s battle with cancer

OJ Simpson’s cause of death shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to those keeping tabs on him. He has been open about his battle with cancer since last spring.

In May 2023, Simpson released one Video on X, also known as Twitter, about his health. He revealed that he recently “got cancer” and “had to do the whole chemo thing.”

However, he was optimistic at the time, adding: “It looks like I’ve done it.” Although he didn’t reveal what type of cancer he was battling, a report from earlier this year provided more details.

A Las Vegas television station reported that Simpson was being treated for prostate cancer and that the treatment required hospice care.

Simpson immediately posted one Video on X that day. He denied the rumors that he was in hospice care, but acknowledged that he was struggling with the health issues he previously mentioned.

“My health is good. I mean, of course I’m dealing with some issues, but I think I’ve just put them behind me,” he said in another post Video update on X

OJ Simpson’s legacy

Early in his career, Simpson was known as a celebrated running back for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.

However, he is best known for his connection to Simpson, infamous for the death of his late wife Nicole Brown.

Five days after she was found stabbed to death outside her apartment along with her boyfriend Ron Goldman in 1994, the world watched as police pursued Simpson and his friend Al Cowlings as they fled from questioning in a white Ford Bronco.

Although Simpson was charged with both murders, he was found not guilty and was not sent to prison.

However, he eventually ended up behind bars. He served nine years in a Nevada prison for a 2007 armed robbery that attempted to recover personal sports memorabilia.
