It can also be converted to front-wheel drive to optimize fuel consumption. Front-wheel drive is standard, AWD is available on the SL and SLE Terrain models, while standard AWD is available on the AT4 and Denali trims.
Lay: While competitors have more room for rear passengers, few can recline like the 2024 Mazda CX-5, increasing comfort.
Powerful engine: Mazda’s 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine already produces 187 horsepower, but switching to the turbo version with premium fuel unlocks an additional 69 horses, significantly increasing power. The GMC Terrain can’t keep up with this edition.

2024 GMC Terrain
GMC is known for producing clean-looking vehicles and giving them a sleek but sturdy appearance. The GMC Terrain meets these requirements, especially in the Denali or AT4 trim levels.
Like the Mazda CX-5, it has had the same exterior for seven years. However, a complete redesign is scheduled for next year. Still, it remains a handsome SUV with an impressive interior.
The front-wheel-drive SLE is available in four trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali. Pricing starts at $30,590, including destination charge. Step up to the Denali trim and you’ll have a luxury two-row compact SUV with all-wheel drive for just about $40,000. That’s pretty good value for money for the premium or luxury segment.
GMC Terrain Highlights
Pro Safety Plus: This safety technology package bundles driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert and rear parking sensors. If all else fails, it receives a 5-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Quiet place: With available active noise cancellation, you can enjoy a quiet ride anywhere. The Mazda CX-5 has a fairly quiet interior, but it’s not as quiet as the Terrain with this optional feature.
Rough and ready: If you want your SUV to take you away from the hustle and bustle of city or even suburban life, the Terrain’s AT4 Off-Road package offers plenty of features, including off-road driving mode, hill descent control, all-terrain tires, etc. Of course, a tough appearance package inside and out. To get this off-road capability, you’ll need to upgrade to the Mazda CX-50.
