Karwai Tang/Getty ImagesNormani Fans, rejoice, because she’s finally announced a release date for her long-delayed debut album – and released a new single called “1:59.”
“Yeeee 1:59 out now and DOPAMINE coming JUNE 14th 🖤,” the 27-year-old Fifth Harmony alum wrote via Instagram on Friday, April 26.
“1:59” – the first single from Dopamine – with rapper from Atlanta Gunna and examines the process of reestablishing a connection with a former romantic partner after a period of separation.
The lyrics are: “If I get you alone / Boy, what are you going to do with it?” (Shh) / Don’t talk too much, just do this shit / Boy, what are you going to do with it? Yeah/When I get you alone/Boy, what are you gonna do with it?”

“The album feels like a liberation, a time of freedom,” Normani said Who wears what in February. “Not just because the album is finally coming out, but because it’s a tribute to everything I’ve been through to get to this moment. During this process I heard God say to me, “Trust me.” I know you are afraid, but trust me anyway. Dare to trust me anyway. Now is the time.'”
The singer announced this in February Dopamine would be released, but no release date has been confirmed. “I’m crying writing this Rn,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “DOPAMINE THE ALBUM.”

Taylor Hill/Getty ImagesAfter Fifth Harmony’s hiatus in 2017, Normani released several singles, including “Motivation” and “Wild Side.” Cardi B and “waves.” However, their debut album never materialized.
When the break began, Normani opened up exclusively Us weekly about having a “clear idea of who Normani is.”
“For so long, I feel like people have gotten an idea of who I am in the group,” she added. “Even within myself, I felt somewhat comfortable with it. For me, it opened my eyes to breaking away from that and, as I said on stage, discovering myself and just discovering other things, different parts of myself. There are so many different levels and so many different parts that I didn’t necessarily get to use that I got to know, so it’s really, really cool. It’s like the sky is the limit.”
She added: “I think this work is definitely a slightly more sensual side of myself, and there are just different inspirations and influences that I grew up with that I want to incorporate into it, but I wrote from the album .”…I even co-produced, so like I said, it’s like a kid in a damn candy store.”
