Nissan Unveils Two Sedan and SUV Concept Cars at the Beijing Auto Show

Nissan has just unveiled four different concept cars at the Beijing Auto Show, two of which are sedans and the other two are SUVs. The four cars provide a taste of the design and styling of models Nissan produces for the Chinese market. However, we wouldn’t be too surprised if elements of these concepts also influence the design of Nissan vehicles sold elsewhere.

Nissan era concept

The first car introduced by Nissan is the Epoch Concept, an electric sedan. Just like the other cars here, details are sparse. However, Nissan says it envisions this Epoch Concept as a car for “suburban enthusiasts.” It features an AI-powered virtual personal assistant that Nissan says can recognize and respond to human emotions. If we had to estimate its size, we would describe it as Sentra-like in its proportions. The lighting stands out as a major element of the more rounded design. It features a glass roof, an intriguing wheel design and flush door handles to improve its aerodynamics.

Nissan Epic concept

The Epic Concept is the second and last of these four models to be fully electric. Nissan says it’s designed for “adventurous urban couples who want to explore on the weekend.” It has a wide range of sensors and driving technologies that Nissan says make it autonomous for both city and highway driving. When you arrive at the campsite, Nissan says the car can serve as a power source to power your various camping essentials. Lighting also plays an important role in this concept, as wild-looking LED strips are attached to both the front and rear of the SUV. The chunky fenders suggest light off-road capability, and the high rear suggests it can carry enough gear for a few people for a long weekend camping trip. The interior resembles a living room with white seats and screens galore. A cute little dog even appears on the passenger screen, which would make a great personal assistant. Anyone riding in the back will enjoy a flat floor and some nice lumbar cushions to keep them comfortable even on long journeys.

Nissan era concept

Now we’re moving from all-electric concepts to plug-in hybrids, as the Era Concept is a PHEV. According to Nissan, it is aimed at young business people who treat their car like a second home. It features E-4ORCE all-wheel drive and active air suspension to make longer journeys more comfortable. Additionally, Nissan says it comes with the company’s ultra-comfortable Zero Gravity seats. Its exterior design is very similar to the Epic Concept, although there are some improvements here and there that differentiate the two, such as: E.g. raised roof rails, changed lighting and much more serious off-road tires on the Era. Good luck identifying the interiors, other than the ambient lighting inside.

Nissan Evo concept

The last concept of the day is a sedan called Evo Concept and also a plug-in hybrid. Unlike the SUVs, whose design is largely identical, this sedan doesn’t look like a copy of the Epoch Concept. Nissan says it’s an ideal weekend getaway car for the family, although it doesn’t look particularly spacious to accommodate lots of people and their luggage. One similarity between it and the Epoch is its AI virtual assistant. The interior of the Evo is simple with just two screens and very few buttons, but its design appears light and airy. Its exterior is also the sportiest of all. It has an elegant sportback design and an angular front with lots of sharp creases. If there was an Altima badge here, we wouldn’t be disappointed.
