Nikki DeLoach looks forward to working together Andrew Walker on Hallmark’s Curious caterer secrets franchise — but she’s ready to reunite for a holiday movie.
DeLoach, 44, tells exclusively Us weekly that she would “love” to do another Christmas-specific project with Walker, 44. The actors began their on-screen partnership with A dream of Christmas 2016 And if the stars align, they would tackle the sequel.
“I’ve had this idea for years and really wanted to do it,” DeLoach said, noting that many fans want a Hallmark sequel for one reason or another, but A dream of Christmas is the one she’s pulling for.
The actress imagines moving on ten years later – since it would be a decade after filming the first part – and Penny (DeLoach) and Stuart (Walker) having three children.
“When we first saw them in this film, they hadn’t had children yet. She 1714801385 have three children. They’re underwater,” DeLoach said Us, imagine the new action. “They are under water with their work. They are underwater with their children. They are full of underwater life.”
She teased that it would be similar to her and Walker’s life now that they are both married and have children. DeLoach and her husband have sons William “Hudson” (10) and Bennett (6). Ryan Goodell. Walker and his wife Cassandra Troy also shared by two boys: West, 8, and Wolf, 4.
“I wake up every day and go to bed at the end of the day completely exhausted from all the work that had to happen in that one day,” DeLoach said of the inspiration. “And what if both of them unintentionally express a wish? ‘Oh dear God. Yes. Remember when we had no responsibility? Remember when we didn’t have people who only cared about ourselves?’”
This wish would result in both characters living “in an alternate reality.” [where they] We have to work together to find each other again.”
In A dream of Christmas, DeLoach’s character wants a break from her marriage. When Penny wakes up single and Stuart doesn’t know who she is, she realizes her life was perfect the way it was and must try to fix it.
While DeLoach has “wanted to release and introduce a sequel for a long time,” she has a second idea for a holiday film starring Walker that could be just as fun for fans.
“Andrew and I participated in this truly incredible Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, the most incredible Christmas event I have ever been a part of. And it was a Hallmark movie,” DeLoach said Us of the 2023 experience in California. “I thought, ‘We just need to set up the cameras.’ These are bananas, like Hallmark is.”
The annual event, held in Newport Beach, includes decorated boats with Christmas decorations and a visit from Santa Claus. During the December 2023 parade, DeLoach and Walker were the grand marshals, sparking the idea for a possible Hallmark movie.
“We’re thinking about it now and trying to work on what we could potentially do in collaboration with Newport Beach to put together a really incredible film,” DeLoach explained. “And it would be for me and Andrew to play the lead.”
She recalled that it was an “extraordinary” time watching the boat parade in person, so much so that she and Walker have been thinking about what comes next.
“They really are a close-knit community, which is so nice. And it reminds me of growing up in my small town,” DeLoach enthused. “Just the work and effort that people put into building their homes and boats [festive] and everything is just totally Christmassy. It was wonderful.”
Although neither of the two Christmas films have been greenlit by Hallmark, fans can see all of DeLoach and Walker’s films Curious caterer secrets Movies on Hallmark Now. Some of her Hallmark Channel romantic comedies are also available to stream.
