Miranda Cosgrove Recalls an ‘iCarly’ Fan Telling Her She Was ‘getting Old’

Miranda Cosgrove met a boy iCarly Fan while running errands and the interaction was priceless.

“I was actually at Target recently and there was a little boy looking at me in the toy department. He kept looking up at me. He was like, 7. I was like, ‘Oh my God, he has to watch the show!'” Cosgrove, 30, said during an appearance on Wednesday, April 24 Live with Kelly and Mark. “And then he kind of kept following me. I thought he was going to say he was watching. Instead he said, ‘You’ve grown old!'”

Cosgrove laughed as he recalled the child’s candid reaction upon seeing her in person, noting that “kids are so honest.” However, hosts Kelly Ripa shared that she didn’t understand what the young fan was talking about.

“I won’t agree with him,” Ripa, 53, said. “You didn’t because I’ve been interviewing you on this show for years now and you look exactly the same.”

The actress thanked Ripa and shared that she looks the same to her.

Cosgrove shared that she “sometimes” gets recognized for her role on the Nickelodeon show, which she starred on from 2007 to 2012. In addition to Netflix playing old episodes of the children’s show, iCarly also saw a boost in 2021 when the show was rebooted for Paramount+. Cosgrove also reprized her role as Carly Shay Jerry Trainor And Nathan Kress as Spencer Shay and Freddie Benson respectively. The series also introduced new characters, played by Lacy Mosley And Jaidyn Triplett. The reboot took place nine years after the series finale and followed Carly as she returned to Seattle.

“We asked ourselves, ‘Why don’t we do the show for them?’ They are the people who originally loved the show and they are really the people this series is for,” Cosgrove said diversity about their decision to return. “That really gave us a lot of guidance once we realized we were all on board and wanted to do this. And after that it started to be really fun.”

The new iCarly ran for three seasons and was canceled in October 2023. The show ended with a cliffhanger where fans would finally meet Carly’s mother at Carly and Freddie’s wedding.
