The 1975s Matty Healy focuses on his new relationship after inspiring his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swiftis the latest album.
“Matty is uncomfortable with the renewed attention being paid to his relationship [with Taylor] – especially because he is [with someone] new,” an insider reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us weekly.
Healy, 35, started dating as a model Gabbriette Bechtel in September 2023. Three months earlier in the same year, in June, Us confirmed that Healy and Swift, 34, have called off their brief romance. The two, who were first linked in 2014, rekindled their connection shortly after news of Swift’s split broke in April 2023 Joe Alwyn.
When Swift announced her 11th album, The Tortured Poets DepartmentAt the 2024 Grammys in February, fans quickly assumed that Alwyn, 33, would be the main focus. However, following the record’s release, many clues in Swift’s lyrics suggested that Healy was her main inspiration.
Despite her sometimes devastating songwriting – Swift doesn’t hold back on “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” – another insider shared Us Last month Healy said he was “relieved” about the album.
“Matty still thinks highly of Taylor, but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album,” the source added, noting that Healy “couldn’t be happier” about it. TTPD turned out.
According to the insider, Healy’s family were “worried” that the songs would “tear him apart,” adding: “Matty has struggled with life in the public eye and he’s doing really well but the last thing he needs is for.” every Swiftie in the world thinks he’s a villain.”
A third source told Us At the time, Healy was “really grateful” to receive notification of the LP’s contents from Swift’s team ahead of its debut.
While fans get a look at Swift and Healy’s long history, he’s keeping a low profile. “He’s very happy in his new relationship, so I’m sure he’ll focus on that,” his aunt said Debbie Dedes told that Daily Mail on April 19th.
Dedes added that as a fellow songwriter, Healy probably wouldn’t be surprised by Swift’s approach. “She writes about all of her relationships, doesn’t she?” she told the outlet. “I don’t think it will be a shock to him. …He won’t be surprised by the song. He and she know what happened.”
For his part, Healy was asked about his TTPD “Diss track” while I was out days later. “I haven’t listened to much of it yet, but I’m sure it’s good,” he said in a video he has Entertainment tonight.
