After two decades of silence Small people, big world star Matt Roloff has a lot to say.

Much of the post was dedicated to viewers’ confusion over whether the April 23 episode of Small people, big world was actually the series finale of the long-running show.

Roloff attempted to provide context for TLC’s lack of a final announcement. This is how he explained it back in 2010: The family decided to withdraw from the showAnd contacted the network’s lawyer to let them know they were done.

“We thought we had accomplished our mission of educating the world about what it was like to be a small person in an average-sized world,” Roloff wrote. “There are already enough TV recordings!! ….we wanted to get back to the farm and our normal lives – so we made it clear to TLC that we were finished.”

However, a few weeks later, the network convinced the family to come back for a handful of specials, which ultimately led to the show returning to its original form for more than a decade.

“No one really knows at this point,” he wrote of the show’s future. “I am very happy and satisfied with how the shows went and the journey we shared with you all! Ratings continued to rise and remained strong and consistent. We’re super proud of that.”

Roloff then turned his attention to the very public drama that has surrounded his family for years, namely the controversial sale of the family farm. Given all the ups and downs, Roloff admitted, “I can’t say I did it without mistakes and missteps.”

“It wasn’t easy… especially during filming… and even very painful at times…” Roloff wrote of the year-long land dispute, “but in the end everything was productive and although in hindsight I would change some of my processes… I think that the results are better and I love watching ALL the kids find their independence and passions on their own terms.”
