Maruti Brezza CNG Gets a Safety Boost: Details

Maruti Suzuki’s popular sub-4 meter SUV Brezza, which is also one of the best-selling models in its segment, has just received a safety update. The Maruti Brezza is one of the few vehicles in this category to be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. However, the CNG version of the Brezza lacked some safety features. Maruti has now decided to update it and offer these safety features as standard on all CNG versions.

Maruti Suzuki currently offers the Brezza CNG in LXI, VXI and ZXI variants. All three variants were missing some safety features, which they have now installed. All three variants of the Brezza CNG are now equipped with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill Start Assist as standard.

Maruti had already introduced the CNG version of the Brezza in March last year. When the SUV first came onto the market, these features were offered. However, due to a semiconductor shortage, the manufacturer had to remove some features from the CNG version. As the situation improves, it looks like these two features are actually extremely useful for the driver and passengers.

The ESP prevents the vehicle from losing control during sudden maneuvers, while the hill start assistant ensures that the vehicle does not roll back on an incline. The Maruti Brezza is not the most feature-packed vehicle in this segment. However, it is still one of the best-selling vehicles in this segment due to its brand value, wide dealer network and reliability.

With the introduction of the CNG version, the Brezza became more attractive to a group of customers who were actually looking for a fuel-efficient SUV in this segment. The petrol Brezza was fuel efficient; But with gasoline prices rising, many people were looking for alternatives. For such customers, the Brezza with a factory-fitted CNG kit made more sense.

According to various online reports, Maruti Suzuki has sent three models to Bharat NCAP for crash tests, including the Maruti Brezza. According to the reports, the Brezza performed well in the crash test along with the other two models. The crash test results are expected to be published on May 8, 2024. Apart from the Brezza, Maruti has also sent the Baleno and the Grand Vitara for crash testing.

The Maruti Brezza is powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 102 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque in the petrol variant. The same engine in the CNG version produces 87 hp and 121 Nm of maximum torque. The CNG version of the Brezza is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol version is available with either a manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

We expect that soon after the launch of the Swift, the Indian manufacturer will launch the updated or new Dzire, which has already been spotted testing several times. Maruti is also working on an electric SUV which we currently know as eVx. The electric SUV is expected to hit the Indian market by the end of this year or early 2025.
