Maninee De Recalls Being a Victim of Sexual Abuse at the Age of Seven, Adding: “Mushkil Tha Lekin…”

Maninee De is one of the most famous faces of Hindi cinema who has also made exceptional contributions to the television industry. She started her career as a model and participated in the Miss India pageant in 1994. Maninee De reveals that she was a victim of abuse in her childhood

In a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Maninee De talked about certain unheard anecdotes from her life. The actress walked down her memory lane and revealed the traumatic phase she went through as a child at just seven years old when she was subjected to sexual abuse. Maninee described it as a dark phase and noted that she was left alone to battle her own demons. She added that she didn’t tell her parents about the incident until much later:

“I was abused as a child. So that was a bit of a dark phase in my life. I struggled with my demons. I told you later. How many years later.”

Maninee says she became a therapist after her own traumatic experience of abuse

As the conversation continued, Maninee explained that dealing with the abuse in the post was a very hard journey and not a small wound that would be healed within a set period of time. She said that because of this episode, she became a therapist later in her life so that she could help others, especially children, who may have been exposed to such danger. In her words:

“It was very difficult. I won’t deny it. And I won’t make it easier by saying nahi, nahi. It’s like a wound. I’ve been through a lot of healing processes. But it won’t be long before we get over the one that has arisen Wound thinking And that’s why I became a therapist because whatever happens to me doesn’t happen to anyone else and if unfortunately that happens, I should be there to heal that child.”

Maninee reveals how her parents reacted to the incident of her abuse

Along the same lines, Maninee recalled how her parents had reacted to such news when she later told them about it. The diva revealed that they just stared at her blankly and in disbelief, thinking it could be a child’s wild imagination. Maninee shared that her parents initially thought she made up the whole story to get attention.

Maninee De says her abuser asked her for forgiveness

In the concluding part of the interview, Maninee De revealed that her abuser was one of her close relatives. Furthermore, she revealed how the person had recently asked her for forgiveness when he realized his mistake. Expressing her reaction to this, she said:

“In fact, strangely enough, he called abhi 5-6 Saal Pehle to apologize to me. And he was like, I’m really sorry. I was absolutely numb. And the only thing I said was, what’s done is done. I just pray to the Lord… He is in pretty bad physical condition, completely paralyzed from what I hear. So there is karma in this world.”
