Actor and host Maniesh Paul recently hosted a podcast with none other than Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde. In the past, the actor has hosted celebrities like Govinda, Anu Malik, Farah Khan, Sushant Divgikar and Prajakta Koli to name a few. In the most recent episode of his podcast, he sat down with a politician, appearing on a podcast for the first time, and the duo are also said to have had an insightful conversation.
Maniesh Paul hosts a candid podcast with Maharashtra chief Eknath Shinde in which he promises to make Mumbai “pothole-free”.
A notable moment in the conversation was when Maniesh Paul asked the CM about his childhood aspirations and wondered if he ever dreamed of becoming the chief minister or if the Bollywood film inspired him Nayak, where a common man rises to become prime minister. The CM said, “Film Film Hai, Reality Reality Hai Aur Kuch Bhi Nahi (While films can inspire, reality is reality and nothing else). He revealed that his journey stemmed from grassroots involvement in both society and politics, highlighting his commitment, hard work and focused determination, emphasizing that success comes through diligent effort and commitment to one’s goals comes about.
Maniesh also posed a question and drew parallels between the role and real life by comparing the proactive approach of Anil Kapoor’s character Nayak on the CM’s practical governance approach. Maniesh praised his work, such as the personal study of waterlogging in Mumbai, which led to significant improvements.
The conversation also touched on pressing issues affecting Mumbai, such as the condition of its roads. During the discussion, Maniesh asked the CM when the city will be pothole-free. Responding to the question, the CM said, “Earlier there was no CM. Then you know what benefit I saw in BMC. Now when I became CM, I called the Chief Commissioner. Every time it rains, people have to deal with mud. This repair work needs to be done before the rains every year. How much did it cost, said Rs 3500 cr (I wasn’t the CM before. Everyone knows who took care of the work in BMC, I called the commissioner and asked him “How much has been paid in the last 10-15”. Years spent on road repair work before monsoon?”
Maniesh was shocked at the cost and pointed out that despite the investment, the roads were not better. To this, the CM added, “Yehi toh daal mai kaala tha, black main white main black, ye sab chaalu tha. Maine unka dhandha bandh kard diya. 700-800 km ke road concrete ke ho jaayenge, toh inka har saal ka woh.” Volume.
