Bayern Munich have added Erik ten Hag to a new list of possible successors to Thomas Tuchel, but their focus remains on Manchester United.
Sky sports news He understands that the Bundesliga giants have contacted Ten Hag’s agent Kees Vos to inquire whether the Dutchman would be willing to take over the Allianz Arena.
No formal discussions have taken place with the United head coach himself, but he has been made aware of Bayern’s interest.
Ten Hag told his people his sole focus was to finish the season successfully with the Old Trafford side looking to continue securing European football and winning the FA Cup.
The 54-year-old, who is confident of remaining at the club beyond the summer despite uncertainty over his position as INEOS makes sweeping changes to the football structure, is highly regarded by Bayern.
Bayern executives believe Ten Hag’s coaching role has been marred by a host of off-field issues and poor operational organization at United. His work at Ajax and his debut season in England was given more credibility than the current injury-plagued season, which has also seen Ten Hag contend with a lengthy takeover.
He is not the only candidate Bayern have turned to after Ralf Rangnick became the last man after Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso to reject their offer to replace Tuchel.
Should INEOS decide to part ways with Ten Hag at the end of the season, Bayern will not be the only potential suitor, as Vos and his SEG agency have made contacts from two other clubs.
