Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul dismissed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket an absolute hoot at the stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, May 5th.
Shreyas Iyer has done a great job as a leader for Kolkata Knight Riders and his bowling changes as well as his fielding placements have been spot on. While his leadership skills were sensational, the same cannot be said about his batting as he was inconsistent and failed to score runs at a good strike rate.
In the match against LSG, Shreyas Iyer came to bat at number 6 and scored just 23 runs off 15 balls, including 3 fours, before he was dismissed by pace bowler Yash Thakur in the last over of the first innings.
On the third ball of the 20th over, Yash Thakur bowled a short cross-seam ball at a poor 138.9 kmph to middle and leg stump. The KKR captain decided to go inside the line to drag him behind the pitch but ended up with gloves. The ball went to wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who dived to his left and took an absolutely sensational one-handed catch.

In the end, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 235 for 6 with opener Sunil Narine being the best player with his 39-ball 81. With their total score, Kolkata Knight Riders equaled Mumbai Indians’ record for most 200+ total throws in an IPL season. They were also the team to score the highest total against both Lucknow Super Giants and in Lucknow.

Earlier, the LSG captain, who made a stunning catch after winning the toss, said he was not the best reader of the pitch. KL Rahul said:
