Kolkata Knight Riders completely dominated Lucknow Super Giants to register their eighth win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They batted and bowled incredibly well and defeated the opponents by a massive margin of 98 runs to reach the top of the table.

Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first and they put in another great performance. Phil Salt (32) and Sunil Narine (81) were once again at full throttle and set the stage on fire with their aggressive batting at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The duo added 61 runs for the opening partnership before youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi (32) played a decent innings at number 3, adding 79 runs with Sunil Narine. The second wicket partnership put immense pressure on Lucknow Super Giants and put Kolkata Knight Riders on top.

Andre Russell (12) and Rinku Singh (16) rose in the rankings but couldn’t really get the stage going. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (23) played a decent knock before Ramandeep Singh made a brutal cameo at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The batsman scored 26 runs in just 6 balls. Riding on the exuberant performance with the bat, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a mammoth total of 235 runs, which was the highest in the history of the shortest format of the game at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

For Lucknow Super Giants, Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/49. Apart from him, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Yudhvir Singh picked one wicket each.

LSG vs KKR IPL 2024, Match 54 – Lucknow Super Giants innings: Varun Chakravarty and Harshit Rana shone with the ball

Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have a great showing with the bat. First Arshin Kulkarni (9) fell and after that skipper KL Rahul (25) and Marcus Stoinis (36) tried to keep the team in the hunt. The duo added 50 runs for the second wicket but nothing stood in the way of the home team after that.

The Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers were all over the Lucknow Super Giants batters and picked the wickets at regular intervals. Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarty picked three wickets each while Andre Russell grabbed two wickets. Sunil Narine was also among the wickets as they bowled out the opponents for 137 runs and won the game by a massive margin of 98 runs.
