Liverpool Need to Make Three New Signings to Keep up with Man City and Arsenal

Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League in Jurgen Klopp’s final season for the club have evaporated in recent weeks.

After one win in five, Klopp’s side are out of contention and the Reds are now a whopping five points worse off than league leaders Arsenal as the 2023/24 season enters its final stages.

So how can Liverpool compete with Manchester City and Arsenal in 2024/25 if Klopp leaves and Feyenoord coach Arne Slot takes over?

Here are the three signings they need to make to achieve this…

If there is a single reason why Liverpool are off the pace in the fight for the 2023/24 Premier League title, it is missed opportunities.

The Reds have managed to miss 61 “big chances” this season, with Darwin Nunez – their current number nine – confusing his lines in front of goal a whopping 26 times in the Premier League alone.

This frugality in front of goal is the perfect excuse for Liverpool to go out and sign a clinical number nine this summer.

And the man who best fits this idea is Victor Osimhen.

The Napoli striker is said to be available for just over £100m this summer and given his tally of 75 goals in 130 games in all competitions for the Serie A club, it’s fair to say it’s money well spent is.

Liverpool’s midfield underwent a complete transformation during the 2023 summer transfer window as Fabinho, Jorgan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were replaced by Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.

While this overhaul has generally been successful, it has become clear in recent months that Liverpool are likely to need another energetic, quality option in the middle of the park.

With Khephren Thuram having long been linked with a move to Anfield, he is perhaps the most logical signing that can be made to provide additional energy and quality.

The 23-year-old can play as either number six or number eight and has been absolutely outstanding for OGC Nice in recent seasons.

Goncalo Inacio of Sporting CP in action during the league...

If you’ve been anywhere near Liverpool Twitter (X) in the last month, you’ll be aware of fans’ current feelings towards Ibrahima Konate.

If not, let’s just say that Reds fans aren’t particularly happy with his performance.

With this in mind, it makes sense for Liverpool to look in the market for a centre-back this summer. The center back they should see as their main target is Goncalo Inacio.

Inacio has long been linked with a move to Anfield and would be a perfect left-footed partner for Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Reds’ defence.
