Fortnite’s biggest collaboration of the year is just around the corner. Ever since someone decided that May 4th sounded a little like May 4th, every year on this holiest of dates, major brands break Star Wars content into their everyday social activities, just for you.
Fortnite and Star Wars really are the perfect combination. The chance to play iconic games in your favorite battle royale certainly hasn’t been missed by the folks in Epic’s boardrooms, but this year they, and indeed us, are getting some new toys to play with.
This is the first year of Lego Fortnite’s existence and it too will be getting a Star Wars themed redesign, and knowing how popular Lego Star Wars games have been so far, this is going to be huge.
Here we take a close look at what awaits you on May 4th.
Lego Fortnite Star Wars release date
May 3rd is yours – er, that’s when Update 29.40 arrives and all variants of Fornite, Lego, Vanilla, Rocket Racing and Festival get a Star Wars-style makeover.
Here we’re focusing on Lego, so let’s move on.
Rebel Adventure Battle Pass
The Lego Pass: Rebel Adventure will actually be available to play through until July 23rd, so don’t feel like you have to rush through it, and it includes plenty of cosmetic items and building sets.
As always, there are free and premium titles and you unlock the extras by earning more studs as you play. The free reward track contains ten decor packs and includes the Mos Eisley Marketplace Build as the final reward.
The Premium Reward Track costs 1,400 V-Bucks and offers 11 additional rewards that you can unlock while unlocking rewards from the Free Reward Track.
This track contains four decal packs and seven builds, including the Dusty Durrr Burger build as the final reward.
Wookie of the year
By upgrading to the Premium track you will automatically unlock the Star Wars Chewbacca outfit. You can also craft his Legendary Bowcaster, see more below.

New Star Wars gear in Lego Fortnite
Lightsabers are cool baby, that’s one point you just can’t argue with, and Lego lightsabers are the best of them all. And from May 3rd they’ll be in the game – oh yeah – unlock yours by helping the rebels build their village.
We’re also getting a new set of craftable items that can be crafted at a Rebel Workbench. Here’s what you can craft now, and all of these items will remain playable even after the Star Wars season ends.
- Bowcaster: Triggers an argument that deals damage and then explodes in the area. Unlock the Bowcaster recipe by adding Durasteel to your inventory.
- DL-44: There’s no substitute for a good blaster at your side. Unlock the recipe for the DL-44 by adding Durasteel to your inventory.
- E-11: Standard blaster for Imperial Stormtroopers. Unlock the E-11 recipe by adding Scrap Durasteel to your inventory.
- Thermal Detonator: The bounty hunter’s detonator of choice! This thrown explosive has an impact over a larger area than dynamite. Unlock the Thermal Detonator recipe by adding Durasteel to your inventory.
How to make a Rebel Workbench in Lego Fortnite
To get any of the above items, you’ll need to craft a Rebel Workbench, but it’s not immediately obvious how to do that.
To craft a Rebel Workbench in Lego Fortnite, you must first unlock the recipe by adding Plastoid to your inventory. It’s that simple, so get started crafting.

Improvements
- Starting with v29.40, you can watch LEGO Fortnite Quests without having to return to the lobby!
- Getting out of folded driver seats has been made easier.
Troubleshooting
- Fixed an issue where players would sometimes not receive the expected gifts from villagers.
- Fixed a crash that rarely occurred when getting out of bed.
