Legendary Sprinter Usain Bolt Picks His Favorite Team for the 2024 T20 World Cup

The upcoming T20 World Cup Kick-off is scheduled for June 1st and the games will take place in USA And West Indies. This is the first time that the West Indies will host this prestigious tournament. With 20 countries taking part, this year’s event promises to be the pinnacle of T20 cricket.

In order to promote cricket in the American region, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been named a sprint legend Usain Bolt as a brand ambassador for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Notably, Bolt is considered the fastest man in the world, having won three gold medals in sprinting at three consecutive Olympics from 2008 to 2016.

Usain Bolt reveals which team he will support in the tournament

Bolt exuded excitement as he was named the brand ambassador for this monumental event. He expressed his joy and excitement at the opportunity to serve as an ambassador. He also praised cricket and stated that the sport holds a special place in his heart.

“I am delighted to be an ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Coming from the Caribbean where cricket is a part of life, the sport has always had a special place in my heart.” Bolt said in an ICC media release.

The Jamaican athlete spoke about his favorite team for the upcoming tournament and stated that he would support West Indies to win the trophy.

“While I will be supporting the West Indies at the World Cup, bringing the sport to the US is hugely important for cricket. It is the largest sports market in the world, Bolt explained.

“The energy we will bring to the T20 World Cup is a great opportunity that will lead to the inclusion of cricket in the LA Olympics in 2028.” the 37-year-old added.

West Indies in the T20 World Cup

West Indies has an impressive tradition in T20 cricket and has lifted the trophy twice in 2012 and 2016, making them the joint record holders England. Given this glorious history, the Men in Maroon are expected to go into the tournament with great confidence.

This event is the first ICC men’s cricket tournament to be held in the Caribbean islands in over 14 years.
