EXCLUSIVE: Fox Corporation’s Tubi has given the green light The Z Suitea comedy series starring and executive produced by Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood). The cross-generational workplace comedy from writer, executive producer and showrunner Katie O’Brien (The Santa Clauses, Teacher), is the AVOD service’s first original live-action original series.
The Z Suite is set in a boutique advertising agency in New York, where generational differences clash between the established C-suite and the up-and-coming employees of Generation Z. After a corporate decision spirals out of control, the agency’s incumbent executives are fired and suddenly put in charge of the Z-Suite staff, ultimately testing the skills and patience of both generations.
Graham plays Monica Frazier, an advertising agency mogul who is fired as CEO and works her way back into the company she helped build.
“When I first read the script The Z Suite “I liked Katie O’Brien’s fresh and funny take on the workplace,” said Lauren Graham, who executive produces the series alongside O’Brien, Lance Samuels, Samantha Levine and Daniel Iron of Blue Ice Pictures (Ginny and Georgia) and Eric Wattenberg, Gary Vaynerchuk and Matt Higgins of VaynerWatt.

To date, Tubi has relied primarily on acquisitions for original series programming and has previously commissioned animated series The Freak Brothers. This is the platform’s first green light for live-action TV.

Graham is best known for her roles as Lorelai Gilmore on the popular WB/CW series Gilmore Girls and the subsequent Netflix limited series, as well as Sarah Braverman on NBC’s acclaimed family drama Parenthood.
