Royal wool And Kim Kardashian everyone smiled as they posed together on the carpet 2024 Met Gala on Monday evening.
The 38-year-old “Diet Mountain Dew” singer and the 43-year-old reality TV star took a quick break after climbing the daunting steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to take a photo with each other and themselves to chat before they embarked on the famous affair.
The unlikely couple even stopped to talk to him Fashion host La La Anthony on the carpet about their respective looks – a fitted John Galliano Couture dress for Kim and Alexander McQueen for Lana – as well as the inspiration for the breathtaking ensembles.
“I think it was this idea of Mother Nature, but the slightly more sinister aspects,” Lana told the outlet of her own dress, which was decorated with dark brown branches and a canopy that draped over her head and the top of the dress.
While she was in a hurry to get to the event, the singer was fresh off the stage Headlining performances at Coachella — told ET’s Rachel Smith about her own “very architectural” costume, particularly her interesting choice of shoes, which she said were incredibly comfortable.
“That’s why I picked them, they’re perfect,” Lana said of her heels, which resembled animal hooves.
The theme of the annual event was: “Sleeping Beauty: Resurgent Fashion” which coincided with The Garden of Time dress code first announced in February. According to the museum, the dress code is inspired by JG Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name.
Kim, for her part, shocked the crowd by appearing in a silver dress with a sheer bottom, complete with leaf-like fringe and a metallic bodysuit that cinched in her waist. She completed the look with a gray scarf, which she carried over one shoulder as she walked the carpet.
Earlier in the night, The Kardashians Stern spoke with Fashion about her stunning looks and explained the inspiration for her own outfit.
“This is like – what did we say – [I] “I had the wildest night of my life in a garden and I just ran out, grabbed my friend’s sweater, put it on and had to get to work,” she said with a laugh. “And my hair is all messed up.”
