Team India’s only Chinese bowler Kuldeep Yadav has revealed that the Chennai Super Kings was his favorite Indian Premier League team as a child.
Kuldeep Yadav made this revelation while speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin on his interview podcast show titled ‘Kutti Stories with Ash’. Kuldeep and Ashwin connected very well with each other in the interview, just as they had teamed up to defeat the England team that had come to India for a five-match Test series in January-March.
Kuldeep Yadav reveals his chameleon style of changing his favorite IPL team
In the interview with Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav was asked various questions and one of them was about his favorite IPL team as a child. Furthermore, the left-arm wrist spinner claimed that he has always supported MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. He admitted that as a teenager he was asked to choose his favorite IPL team and so he chose the South Indian franchise.

Kuldeep Yadav then revealed that after achieving success for India in the U-19 national team and being snapped up by Mumbai Indians, he quickly switched allegiances. The 29-year-old admitted his CSK fan base was devastated after MI handed him his first-ever Indian Premier League contract.
“I am a fan, it is not that I am not now but when you are younger you are asked to choose your favorite team, back then for me it was always CSK. Then after playing U-19, I was picked by Mumbai.” Indians in 2012. Before that, I was watching IPL and it just said “CSK CSK” to me. When I got picked by Mumbai Indians, I thought, okay, let’s move to Mumbai Indians.” – said Kuldeep on Ravichandran Ashwin’s podcast – Kutti Stories with Ash.
How did IPL 2024 pan out for Kuldeep Yadav?
Kuldeep Yadav’s 2024 season in the Indian Premier League was quite decent in terms of both rhythm and stats for Delhi Capitals. The Chinese player has been crucial to the North Indian team and has helped with wickets whenever the team has found itself in difficult situations. Kuldeep Yadav has registered 12 wickets from 8 matches for DC with an economy rate of 8.52 and a best score of 4/55.
In fact, Delhi’s position in the points table and their inconsistent performances in IPL 2024 do not do justice to the quality of Kuldeep Yadav. But the UP-born cricketer will be happy to be selected for the Indian national team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Kuldeep Yadav will fly to the US and West Indies with his long-time spin partner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is also part of the 15-member squad for the event.

KuKuldeep Yadav has just three games left for the Delhi Capitals IPL 2024. The final phase begins with a home game against Rajasthan Royals on May 7 before taking on RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (May 12). Delhi’s final league match will be against Lucknow Super Giants on May 14 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
