After more than a decade as a guest Kim Kardashian has mastered that Met Gala red carpet – and her 2024 look is proof.
The mogul hit the Met Gala carpet in a stunning silver, high-waisted look that was the talk of social media on Monday night. The outfit consisted of a silver bodysuit with a transparent tail and a grayish cover-up that covered one shoulder. The bottom half of the look had fringe in the shape of leaves, matching the theme of the event.
Kim sported tousled blonde locks and a tanned, gorgeous makeup look that accentuated the dress.
Since she first appeared at the star-studded event in 2013 – pregnant and alongside her then-boyfriend Kanye West in a floral print by Givenchy – the 43-year-old mother of four made a splash on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s signature staircase. The reality star seemed to really hit her stride when it came to fashion in 2019 – turning dressing at the Met Gala into something of an Olympic sport – as she embraced wearing corsets in a custom Thierry Mugler dress that captured the image of her dripping wet woman floating on top emerging from the sea, a perfect complement to this year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. There was no denying that she was committed to the look: Kardashian felt so constrained by the ensemble that she was ready to pee herself ever since couldn’t go to the toiletand had difficulty breathing and sitting.
After the gala was put on hold in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kardashian returned to the carpet the following year in extremely bold fashion. I wore a black Balenciaga ensemble that covered everything her from head to toe.
Just when fans thought she couldn’t push the boundaries any further, the SKIMS founder hit the red carpet in 2022 wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic glittering nude dress from 1962 – yes, the one the Hollywood icon wore to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy.
Kardashian didn’t shy away from wearing the artifact, which is in the possession of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, even if just for a few minutes on the museum steps. Hoping to fit into the dress, she cut back on calories and wore a sauna suit twice daily under their other protocol. To completely transform herself, she spent 14 hours dyeing her hair platinum blonde.
Because every time the committed star visits the gala, she fulfills a long-held dream anew.
“I always dreamed about that night,” she said Fashion in 2019. “I was sitting at home in bed at the computer and looking at everyone’s pictures. One day I dreamed that I would ever be able to attend a Met Ball, and I never really believed it would ever happen.”
