Kid Cudi won’t be taking the stage anytime soon after his recent Coachella injury.

“Guys I have a broken heel bone 🤦🏾‍♂️I am now facing surgery and it will be a long recovery time,” Cudi, 40, wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement on Wednesday, April 24. “We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better and being in top shape out there to rage with you all. There’s just no way to get back on your feet in time and give 100%.”

The rapper explained that his injury was “more serious” than he initially expected. According to the Orthopedic Trauma AssociationA broken heel bone, the medical term for the heel bone, can take three to four months to heal with or without surgery. In cases where surgery is required, it is because the bone is pushing through the skin or is about to break through.

Cudi (real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) was preparing to go on a world tour with his Insano album at the end of July and was supposed to have continued into 2025. The musician shared that anyone who purchased tickets would receive a full refund. While Cudi will be on the mend for a while, he hopes to be able to reschedule soon.

“We’ll be back with new tour dates as soon as possible and I can’t wait to get back out there with you and show how we’re doing.” I’m so sorry family and I love you all so much, thank you for the endless love and support,” he continued. “I’m really disappointed, and I’m sure you are too, but I’ll be back. That’s a promise. I’m fine, just a little sore, but I’m in good spirits.”

He signed the note: “From your friend Scott 🥺🫶🏽 with mad love.”

“Hey guys, I broke my foot at the show today,” he wrote on X shortly after the incident. “Just leave the hospital. I’ve never broken a bone before, so this is all a bit crazy. I want to thank you all for your concerns and well wishes!! I love you all, man. I could still hear you guys raving when I was backstage. Made me smile.”

The next day, Cudi posted a photo of himself in an ambulance discussing his injury.

“That was me in the ambulance straight after the fall. Everyone smiles like a G. No pain could have stopped me from feeling the joy I felt at the show,” he captioned the slideshow, which included a picture of him smiling and giving a thumbs up, while he lay on a stretcher. “To everyone who came out yesterday and contacted me and sent greetings of love: IF-N-LOVE-YOU!!! 🥹🙏🏾 Coachella, that’s how we rage. You always know how we are doing. Festival Cud is always a great experience ☺️✌🏾💞.”
