Even though the government has imposed a blanket ban on modifications, we still see modified cars on the road. Some of these cars look good after modifications, while others look completely outlandish. Here we have one such video from Kerala where MVD officials of Kerala actually seized one of the ugliest modified Honda Civic sedans.
The video was shared by Mathrubhumi News on YouTube. The car in question is an extremely modified Honda Civic sedan. This is the older generation sedan, which is very popular among buyers for such modifications. The car was seized in Kollam district of Kerala and we don’t blame the officials here. If it were a crime to modify a car to make it look ugly, then the owner of the car must have been arrested for cruelty to cars. Yes, the modifications are that cruel. The front kit and color make this car terrible to look at.
However, ugliness wasn’t the reason it was confiscated by MVD
A few days ago, this Honda Civic was discovered by MVD officers during their routine inspection. However, the driver of the vehicle refused to slow down or stop for inspection. The senior officer shared details about the car with his subordinates and asked them to take action against the vehicle wherever they spotted it.
The car had several illegal modifications and was also used on the road without a license plate. There are also reports that the car was involved in a minor accident while bypassing the police checkpoint. A few days after the incident, Department of Motor Vehicles officers received information about the same car and went to the spot where it was parked.
They found the car parked and the bright pink color and “Boomer” stickers on the windshield and license plate area helped officers confirm it was the same car that had failed to stop for inspection the day before.
The front of the car is completely modified. It looks like the car has been lowered and aftermarket body kits are also installed. The windshield was tinted and the car was equipped with aftermarket headlights. The officers thoroughly examined the car for any changes and ultimately confiscated it. The paintwork of this car is one of the factors that would attract a lot of attention. Combined with the massive spoiler that can be used to hang clothes, white aftermarket wheels and stickers, the car just looks too loud.
The car also had an aftermarket exhaust to add to the volume. The owner of the car told officers that they had never been stopped by police before. They also said that it was a project car and they used it for several car shows in different colleges and institutes in Kerala. They even said that the car is brought to such venues on a flatbed and is never driven on the road.
The officers didn’t listen to any of the owner’s apologies and took the car into custody. The car was confiscated due to illegal modifications and a missing license plate. The car is now parked in front of the local police station. In such cases, the MVD officials impose a heavy fine for any modifications and then ask the owner to present the vehicle in its original condition in front of the officials.
This modified Honda Civic is painted pink, which makes it look even weirder. With all of these modifications, the Civic just looked very cheap, in a bad way. All in all, we have featured several good-looking or tastefully modified Honda Civic sedans on our website in the past. If someone modifies their car and takes a huge risk because it’s illegal, at least it has to be done tastefully!
