Kate Hudson’s Father Bill Opens up About the Rift Between Them: ‘We’re Warming Up’

The nature of the relationship between Bill Hudson and his estranged children, Kate Hudson And Oliver Hudsonseems to be changing.

After years of public hostility and resentment, the 74-year-old musician is opening up about his new relationship with his ex-wife Goldie Hawn‘s children.

The Hudson Brothers singer made it clear that the only chance of a future relationship with his estranged children is to leave the past in the past.

“A lot went wrong and we won’t go back to it,” he said. “Nobody wants to rehash the past. You can’t move forward by just analyzing the past. We are in the present.”

In addition to Kate and Oliver, Bill is also father to children Emily (42) and Zachary (38) with his late ex-wife Cindy Williams and daughter Lalania (18) with his ex Caroline Graham. As a teenager, he welcomed another son named Paul, who was given up for adoption.

Bill noted that there was “no pressure” but that the rift between him, Kate and Oliver was “healing”, adding: “It’s great. I love it. We’re all coming back.”

“Interestingly, my mother was the one who traumatized me the most because she was my primary caregiver and I was with her all the time,” he shared. “I felt defenseless at times. She would work. She had new friends that I didn’t really like. She would live her life and she was a great mother. That’s my own perception as a child that didn’t have that.” I was a father and needed her presence, but sometimes she just wasn’t there, and she showed up far more than even my father, who wasn’t there.

In April, Oliver clarified his commentsthey were “taken so far out of context.”

“I don’t know who I would be without my mom,” he added of Goldie. “I can’t even understand it. The love I have for her and the respect and awe I have for her is beyond anything. So it was just taken completely out of context.”

This week, in an interview with Andy Cohen, she shared that she hopes to marry her longtime fiancé Danny Fujikawa soon.

“I think we’re getting married soon,” Kate shared. “I just don’t want to plan a wedding. This is such crap!”
