Kate Hudson Says Her Split from Ex-husband Chris Robinson Was “very Difficult”.

Kate Hudson recalls the heartache she felt after breaking up with Chris Robinson. But ultimately the breakup was a byproduct of their own development.

The 45-year-old actress appeared on SiriusXM The Howard Stern Show and talked about her marriage to the Black Crowes frontman. They tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2000 when she was just 21 years old. They divorced in 2007 and have son Ryder, 20, together.

“My relationship with Chris was so beautiful and there was so much love, but I really grew out of it,” Hudson said of traveling with Robinson while on tour with his band. “It wasn’t an easy separation. I was very much in love with him, but it wasn’t meant to be the rest of my life.”

The Almost famous Star highlighted Robinson’s musical genius as a “brilliant” and “incredible” frontman, but the touring ultimately took its toll.

“With that comes living a nomadic life,” she said, “and as an artist, that can be difficult for relationships.”

Hudson is conscious of the fact that she was so young when she took the leap of faith and tied the knot with Robinson, now 57. And therein lies the reason why the marriage failed.

“I was like a baby. When my life really took off and I wanted to go in different directions, we literally weren’t in the same room to move forward,” she added.

Hudson then began a four-year relationship with Matt Bellamy from 2010 to 2014. They have a son Bingham (12) together. She is currently engaged to Danny Fujikawa and the couple has a daughter, Rani Rose (5).

Hudson’s comments come more than a year after she gave a rare interview about Robinson during her show You’re fine… Just keep going Podcast with her long-time friends Erin and Sara Foster. She recalled coming home from a trip when she was 20 in this interview and explained that she was “marry this guy.”

But when the breakup came, it came as a surprise to everyone but her.

“I just like to jump in at the deep end with everything I do,” she explained. “People thought it was impulsive, but it was more like I said, ‘You know what? I’ll just go with it. I won’t guess again. I am in love with him.’ I’m not going to pretend to say, “Oh, we should wait.” I’m madly in love and want to marry him, so I just didn’t think twice about it. And somehow I’m still like that, except with a little more wisdom.
