Along with the launch of the Swift 2024, Maruti Suzuki has uploaded the first TVC (Television Commercial) for the car on YouTube. The all-new Swift is the fourth generation of the popular hatchback, which was originally launched in 2005. The 2024 Swift will replace its third-generation model, which was sold from 2018 to 2024.
The 30-second TVC features famous Bollywood star Ananya Pandey. The TVC begins with the actress waking up and texting on her phone with the caption, “Time to Swift!!” to their friends. Following the scene, the actress unveils the all-new Swift 2024 in red livery.
The TVC highlights some new features of the car such as new LED taillights and projector-based LED headlights with DRLs and diamond-cut alloy wheels. After showing the exterior features, the TVC moves on to the interior, highlighting key features such as a 9-inch infotainment system, push button start and the redesigned instrument cluster.
The TVC then switches to driving shots of the car, showing its sporty driving skills. Two other Swifts take part in the ride, where the cars can be seen driving through the city and tackling corners with ease. The completely new engine is also shown in the commercial. In the TVC, the ride ends at a location where all other generations of the car are parked, thus showcasing its heritage in the country.
Now let’s talk about what has changed. Instead of the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the car is now powered by an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine that produces 80 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque.
Transmission options are similar, offering a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic transmission (AMT). The power figures have decreased by 9 hp, but the torque figures have remained the same. This new engine is more economical and achieves a mileage of 24.8 km/L for the manual version and 25.87 km/L for the automatic version. On the other hand, the 2023 Swift had a claimed mileage of 22.38 km/l.
Prices of the Swift 2024 have increased slightly. Here’s a breakdown of 2024 Swift pricing by variant:
- LXi – Rs. 6.49 Lakhs
VXi – Rs. 7.29 Lakhs
VXi (O) – Rs. 7.56 Lakhs
ZXi – Rs. 8.29 Lakhs
ZXi+ – Rs. 8.99 Lakhs
ZXi+ Dual Tone – Rs. 9.14 Lakhs
Please note that the above prices are for the manual transmission versions. The automatic transmission option is available in all variants except the base model LXi and the automatic transmission costs an additional Rs. 50,000.
Safety has been significantly improved on the Swift 2024. The car now has six airbags (standard), an electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, hill start assist and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The third-generation Swift received a one-star safety rating, which is expected to improve with this iteration.
In terms of features, the car offers the same technology as its previous version. The only new features are a wireless charger, a 9-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display and connected car technology.
The Swift goes up against its traditional rival – the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS. However, in terms of price, the all-new Swift overlaps with many cars. From the Tata Punch and Citroen C3 to stablemates Baleno and Fronx, the hatchback has many cars in its sights.
