Jon Bon Jovi And Dorothea Hurley’s marriage continues to make headlines. After the rock star revealed his infidelity in various interviews, fans were curious to know more about Dorothea and how they fell in love during his rise to stardom in the ’80s. While speaking to ABCs Michael Strahan In April 2024, the “You Give Love a Bad Name” artist revealed that he wasn’t a “saint” in the early days of his and Dorothea’s romance.
“I got away with murder. I’ll say it again in front of the camera. I’m a rock and roll star. “I’m not a saint,” Jon said. “I’m not saying there haven’t been 100 girls in my life. I’m Jon Bon Jovi; it was pretty good.”

Dorothea worked as a karate teacher
According to several media outlets, Dorothea worked as a karate teacher. It is not clear when she left the profession, but she later became a restauranteur.
She founded a non-profit company
Dorothea founded the nonprofit restaurant JBJ Soul Kitchen, which she co-founded with Jon. According to the company’s website, they have been serving meals to guests in need since 2009.
She is from New Jersey
Like her husband, Dorothea is also from New Jersey. The duo met at Sayreville War Memorial High School.
Dorothea ran away with Jon
The couple began dating in 1985 and separated shortly after. However, in 1989 they reunited and eloped.
Dorothea stayed by Jon’s side
Despite Jon’s infidelity, he and Dorothea remained devoted to each other. While promoting his 2024 Hulu documentary, Thank you, goodnight – The Jon Bon Jovi story, The “Livin’ On a Prayer” hitmaker revealed that he felt the temptation when he had “100 Girls” around him at the peak of his music career. However, he insisted he didn’t want to “jeopardize” his entire relationship with Dorothea.
“But if you think I would ever take a risk… is there any evidence that the narcissist in me is real? What a stupid thing,” Jon explained during his ABC interview. “What excesses does it take for a man to fuel this fire? It’s just not worth it.”
Jon also pointed out that Dorothea didn’t hesitate to correct him.
“There is no doubt in my mind that this world is turning because of her, because of what she has done to do right by the children, what she is doing to do right by me, what we are doing together to make it right to bring,” he added. “There’s no doubt about that. … She’s not afraid to call me out for anything, but she’s also there when I call, and I’m there for her when she falls. No matter where I’ve gone in my career – that The highs or the lows – we did it together.”
Jon and Dorothea have four children
After marrying in 1989, the couple welcomed their four children: daughter Stephanie and sons Jesse, Jake and Romeo Bongiovi.
