Young Sheldon meets the original Sheldon Cooper!
Iain Armitage starred in the title role of Young Sheldon since the series’ debut in 2017. The show is a prequel to The big Bang Theory in which Jim Parsons played Sheldon Cooper as an adult.
Ahead of the series finale, which airs May 16, Armitage, 15, and Parsons, 51, who narrates the CBS series as the voice of adult Sheldon Cooper, announced their upcoming appearance together.
“Apparently there’s a new filter that shows what you’re going to look like as an adult, and I don’t know how accurate it’s going to be, but let me try,” Armitage says in a TikTok clip posted on Monday, March 29 April, was posted taps on the phone screen.
The video then switches to show Parsons’ face as he checks himself in the viewfinder. “I’m not sure about that. Oh, it changes your voice too, right? I don’t like it,” he says before the screen goes black.
After portraying Cooper from 2007 to 2019 in The big Bang Theory, Parsons will reprise his role in the May 16 finale. He previously won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, playing the character four years in a row, from 2011 to 2014.
Parsons is also an executive producer of Young Sheldon. During an appearance in March at the Today Appearing in the series’ final episode, he said, was “very strange” but “beautiful.”
The finale marks the first time that characters from the original series appear Young Sheldon since Parsons is accompanied by him Big Bang Theory Costar Mayim Bialik, who played Amy Farrah Fowler.
“Big Bang Theory was always a live audience show and Young Sheldon is a single-camera show, and I got to do it with Mayim – we both played Sheldon and Amy from the show – and to do it in that situation, it was just different enough that it wasn’t scary,” Parsons said Today. “Like, ‘What are we doing here again?!’ Instead, it was really sweet. It felt like the nicest little culmination of the whole experience and I was very grateful that they asked us to do it.”
This was announced in November 2023 Young Sheldon would end after seven seasons. Annie Potts, Sheldon’s grandmother Constance “Connie” Tucker said she was “completely unprepared” for the end of the series given its success.

Armitage told it too diversity that he is sad that the show is coming to an end.
“Also, it’s difficult in a really strange way that the only way I can really see it is if I step back and try to take a global view, which is difficult. I mean, I won’t see Annie Potts every day. This is a real loss for me. More than anyone else.”
However, Young Sheldon Fans can look forward to a new show. This summer, production will begin on a spin-off series focusing on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and his wife Mandy (Emily Osment) while raising their family in Texas.
