Jill Zarin pulls back the curtain of her time Under deck.
Jill’s two-day charter aboard the boat St. David aired in two episodes on Bravo in April. During her stay, Jill expressed some of her concerns to the crew – including that the food was cold and the service was taking long.
“I’m good with everything I’ve done,” she said exclusively Us weekly. “[However]I don’t agree with how they responded to why I said what I said on the show. So I kind of came back and expressed my point of view because I can’t get an interview on the show. I can’t get a confessional.”
After seeing the unenthusiastic crew talking about her on the show, Jill felt the situation was “one-sided” without her perspective being taken into account.
“I felt it was necessary to set the record straight, and there are more things to set the record straight, but there are only so many hours in the day,” she joked. “I had no disadvantages while filming. I really enjoyed it, I had a great time. I think I learned something on the boat.”
Jill acknowledged the “terrible things” she had seen Under deck The cast spoke out about her on screen, but their frustration also came from what ultimately didn’t air.
“There are a few scenes that are missed and were cut from the series,” she noted Us. “A show is only 50 minutes long and they focus on the drama.”
Under deck Season 11 airs Mondays at 9pm ET on Bravo. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock. Keep scrolling for the biggest revelations from Jill’s tell-all story Us – including what Under deck Fans didn’t catch the show:
How much money Jill Zarin spent on the trip
During her interview with UsJill specifically called Stew Barbie PascualI am thrilled with their “free riding” on the journey. (Barbie has since apologized to Jill for the comments she made in the confessional.)
“I wasn’t a free rider because I contributed to the tip. I paid for my flight and hotel. So I spent $6,000 to fly to Grenada for two nights. For me, going somewhere for two nights is a lot of work and a lot of money. “I could do a lot of things for $6,000,” Jill explained. “So I was hardly a copycat. And my friends, who are extremely generous, don’t deserve to have any of their guests treated disrespectfully by the crew after spending $65,000.”
Jill also dismissed speculation that guests get a discount on the charter when filming for the show, adding: “When they look at each other when we tipped $20,000 like we’re cheap, that’s insulting , because the week before they got it.” a tip of $30,000. Do you know why? Because it was a three day trip. We were on a two day trip. So they gave 10,000 a night. We made it. We gave 10,000 a night. That was very generous.”
The gift Jill Zarin received from Captain Kerry
Viewers missed several key moments, including when Jill received a “three-star lapel” from Captain Kerry.
“I was wearing pajamas and he put them over my pajamas because he wanted to make me honorary captain because he was very impressed with my abilities. [This was based on me] I know a lot about boats and boating and docking and everything. Because I’m a licensed captain,” she explained Us. “I had a 50-foot Sea Ray for many years. Then we went up to the 72 foot high San Lorenzo and had a captain and a cook. I have chartered boats all over the world and have friends who have large yachts. So I can’t speak for other people who were on the boats, I can only represent myself.”
First promise of snacks
During Jill’s stay on St. David, she mentioned that there were no snacks on the boat for guests. Jill has since clarified that she differs from the information she was originally given by the chief steward Fraser Olender.
“I have a video that I took when we came on board and we were sitting at the dinner table and he was studying the lay of the land for the next two days. He said there would be snacks. I did not ask. There was no prompting,” Jill said of the footage, which Us has seen and reviewed. “He said, ‘There will be snacks and food everywhere all the time. You won’t need anything.’ So imagine when we got the lunch problem, we were starving.”
Jill confirmed that her issues with the meals being prepared – and the speed at which they arrived – continued throughout her time on the megayacht.
“We were starving. We were completely starving. We hadn’t eaten lunch or dinner and there were no snacks. On my wish list I stated that I wanted fruit all the time. A very common thing [is] Fruit, cheese and crackers,” she continued. “These are the things you normally see. The bar nuts and stuff like that. There was nothing and I was hungry and maybe a little upset because I was so hungry.”
Jill Zarin’s contact with Fraser Olender since the show
“After I got off the boat, I DM’d Fraser. I said, ‘Thank you for the wonderful time.’ We had the best time ever. “I love staying in touch,” she remembers. “‘However, I want to give you a list of things that were wrong, but I didn’t want to say it and make you look bad. And here is the list.’”
Jill told Fraser about problems like the broken TV, to which he replied, “He wrote back, ‘I’ll write it down.’ Thank you. Let’s keep in touch. I am happy to see you again.’ Fraser and I stayed in touch for a year.”
Since then, their friendship has faltered after Jill asked Fraser to protect her from fan scrutiny – but he failed to do so.
“[Fraser] even apologized and said “I feel bad about the bad pressure you’re getting.” You don’t deserve it. You are a nice lady. “You didn’t do anything wrong,” Jill said Us. “So I asked him if he would come out and say something, but he didn’t.”
She added: “I’m done. He doesn’t want to listen. I tried reaching out to him on Instagram. He just said, ‘I’m sorry you’re getting so much hate, and you don’t deserve it.’ And I said, ‘Can you say something?’ And he ignored it.”
The extra focus on her
Jill believes the edit suggests she was the only one who commented on the boat.
“Everyone in my group had duct tape on their mouths. Nobody talked. It was like a movie,” she joked. “They weren’t allowed to talk. I was the only one allowed to talk to them. I mean, isn’t that ridiculous? …Do you think no one talked? But they got everyone out. There was no one on the boat except me. I was the only one who spoke. It is ridiculous.”
Jill also wasn’t happy with the way her problems were portrayed on screen. She claimed that the food was late, which was why her group was so frustrated.
“I’m not mad at anyone, but I’m disappointed that the fans think I’m out of line because I didn’t whine. I didn’t complain,” she continued. “There was a lot to complain about. I didn’t complain about it. Now that you want to know my complaints, I have more. But I didn’t do that back then.”
Wrong approach
“Looking back on the experience,” Jill shared Us that the cast was too serious instead of just having fun with it.
“I think they mishandled the episode. I think it was fun to have a housewife there,” he said Real Housewives of New York City Alum shared. “You should have let me be who I was. And they should have laughed with me. They should have made fun of me in a loving way. Not in a mean way.”
Jill continued: “People who don’t know me and watch the show and want to hate me, that’s fine. But to anyone who knows me or actually follows me on Instagram, that didn’t make any sense. They watch me and then they see the comments [from the crew] and it doesn’t make any sense.”
