Jerry Seinfeld had the support of his former co-star Michael Richards at the premiere of his new film Unfrosted on Tuesday, April 30th. It was a rare appearance for 74-year-old Michael, who played the role of Kramer in the hit sitcom His field together with Jerry, 70, in the 90s. Michael rarely appeared in public and his last acting career came in 2019.

Both comedians wore suits for the outing. Michael wore a charcoal gray suit with a white button-down collar with a pattern on it. He also accessorized with a gold chain and glasses. Jerry wore an all-black suit for the event. The two were also seen hugging on the red carpet while the rest of the cast posed for photos together.

Michael and Jerry both rose to fame in the ’90s when they starred in the popular sitcom His field. The comic named after Jerry starred a fictionalized version of himself. The show focused on how Jerry interacts with his friends Elaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus), George (Jason Alexander) and Kramer (Michael). The show ended after nine seasons in 1998.

After the show ended, Michael continued to perform stand-up, but faced severe backlash, particularly for an incident at the Hollywood Laugh Factory in November 2006. In the middle of a set, he launched into a racist tirade against the audience members who had been heckling and loud. As part of the tirade, he yelled the N-word and shortly after, the video was shared by TMZ. A few days later he appeared via satellite on the Late show where Jerry showed up. He apologized on television. “For being at a comedy club and having to freak out and say this crap, I’m deeply sorry. I’m not racist, that’s the crazy thing,” he said. In 2007, Michael retired from stand-up in part because of the incident and has since spoken about it, including in a 2012 episode Comedians in cars drinking coffee.

Although Michael retired from the streets in 2007, he occasionally appeared in films and television shows, including: His field See you again on Curb your enthusiasm in 2009. His last role was in 2019 Believe hope and love. His memoirs Entrances and exits is due out in June.
