Justin Hartley revealed this Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles will portray his estranged brother on the hit CBS drama series, tracker.
Hartley, 47, who portrays Colter Shaw, shared the exciting casting news with his followers in a video posted via Instagram on Thursday, April 25.
“The response was great, we are thrilled and overjoyed,” he said this is us alum began after thanking fans for supporting the show in its first season. “I have some news for you. We’ve talked about Russell Shaw, my brother, all season long. [with] this family drama going on between Colter and Russell.”
He continued: “We finally found what I think is the perfect cast. This person blows it away every time.
Before his reveal, Ackles, 46, could be heard tapping something in the background. After Hartley repeated the phrase “It blows your mind every time” with a visibly annoyed expression, he turned the camera to ” Days of our lives alum who played an arcade game.
“We agreed to do this together, but he’s in the middle of something,” he joked before ending the video by posing with Ackles.
“I had too much fun mixing it up with you, Hartley. Let’s do it again,” Ackles wrote in the comments section of the post.
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement when they heard the news, with one social media user writing: “This is BRILLIANT casting, Jensen and you are definitely cut from the same cloth of awesomeness.” Another added: “So upset! Definitely the best cast and the chemistry between you two will be great.”
Ackles should make it his tracker Debuts in the May 12 episode.
Although this is the first time Hartley and Ackles have worked together, tracker combined Hartley with his this is us costar, Jon Huertas.
While we speak exclusively to Us weekly Earlier this month, Huertas, 54, spoke about directing an upcoming episode of the series and how Hartley – who also serves as a producer – spent his time on the series tracker so easy to set.
“Because Justin and I had this shared history, it was like we were back in step from the moment I directed him this is us [and] when we worked together in scenes as stepfather and stepson,” Huertas shared. “We found this rhythm so naturally that it was easy. It made it really easy.”
