IPL points table 2024: Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in the ninth match of the ongoing IPL 2024 on Thursday (March 28) to register their second win. Chasing 186 for their first win of the tournament, DC ended their innings at 173 for 5.
DC’s chase started well when Mitchell Marsh came out fully armed. The Australian all-rounder raced to 23 off just 11 balls before being dismissed by Nandre Burger in the fourth over. In the same over, Burger dismissed Ricky Bhui for a duck to reduce the DC to 30 for 2.
David Warner and Rishabh pants steadied the ship with a 67-run stand. Avesh Khan broke the stand by dismissing Warner for 49. 8 runs later, Yuzvendra Chahal sent back Rishabh Pant for 28 to reduce DC to 105 for 4. Abhishek Porel couldn’t do much and went for 9, leaving his team reeling at 122 for 5 in the 16th over. Tristan Stubbs scored 44 of 23 points toward the end, but his efforts weren’t enough for DC to win their first game of the season.
At the start of the game Riyan Parags The highest IPL score helped RR recover from a disastrous start and post a competitive total of 185 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.
When asked to bat first, the Royals found themselves at the crease after being reduced to 36 for 3 in the eighth over. Both their openers and the captain failed to reach the 20-run mark. Mukesh Kumar gave DC their first breakthrough by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for just 5 in the second over.
In the sixth over, Khaleel Ahmed sent back captain Sanju Samson for 15 before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jos Buttler for 11 to put DC on top. Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin then steadied the ship with a 54-run stand. Axar Patel broke the stand when he dismissed Ashwin for 29.
Another fifty-plus stand followed as Parag and Jurel added 52 runs for the fifth wicket. While Jurel departed with 20, Parag stayed until the end and took his team to a total of over 180. He scored an unbeaten 84 off 45 balls with seven fours and six sixes.

RR is currently in second place in the points table with two wins in as many games. DC, on the other hand, is in eighth place with two defeats. Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings are currently at the top of the IPL 2024 points table.
