Sunday provided double the excitement with two blockbuster games. First, the Chennai Super Kings met the Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. Later, the night got hotter with the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. Both encounters featured exciting bowling displays that left the Purple Cap table in turmoil.
Amazing Bowling Performances of Chennai and Punjab:
In the first game, the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings played a duel in Dharamsala. After winning the toss, the Punjab Kings decided to bowl first and put in some brilliant performances. Arshdeep Singh got the first breakthrough when he dismissed Ajiyanka Rahane. Rahul Chahar broke the partnership of Gaikwad and Mitchell. Chahar bowled brilliantly and ended his tenure with three wickets for 23 runs. Harshal Patel also picked three wickets for 24 runs. They restricted them to 167 runs.
Chennai’s dominance turned the game around. Tushar Deshpande initially secured two crucial wickets which put the opposition under pressure. Mitchell Santner dismissed Shashank Singh for 27 runs. In this match, Ravindra Jadeja took three crucial wickets for 20 runs. Simarjeet Singh took two wickets for 16 runs. Their outstanding dominance secured the expected win by 28 runs.
LSG’s bowling struggles but KKR’s brilliance:
In the second meeting, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders fought a duel. The Lucknow crowd witnessed another exciting game. After winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul decided to bowl first. While they bowl first, they have to wait for the first wicket. Naveen ul Haq scored the first success for the team when he dismissed Phil Salt. The Afghan bowlers played exceptionally well. He picked up three wickets for 49 runs. Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Yudhvir Singh got 1 wicket each. But they couldn’t dominate the KKR batters as they scored 235 runs.
After dominating in batting, they maintained their dominance in bowling. They did not allow the Lucknow batters to play an effective innings. Varun Charkravarthy and Harshit Rana destroyed LSG’s innings. Both secured three wickets each. This was a big blow to Lucknow. Andre Russell took two more crucial wickets for just 17 runs. Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine took 1 wicket each. With this extraordinary dominance of a whopping 98 runs.
