IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After GT vs RCB and CSK vs SRH Match Nos. 45 and 46

What an electric Sunday it was! In the 45th match of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced Gujarat Titans in a thrilling encounter in which RCB emerged victorious at Gujarat’s home stadium. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings battled against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chidambaram Stadium. Both games featured outstanding bowling performances, upsetting the Purple Cap rankings and leaving fans on the edge of their seats with anticipation and excitement.

RCB’s Excellence and GT’s Poor Bowling:

The 45th game of the tournament saw an exciting clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The spectators in Ahmedabad witnessed an intense game. After winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis decided to bowl first. Swapnil Singh scored the first success for the team when he dismissed Wriddhiman Saha. In the seventh over, Glenn Maxwell sent Shubman Gill back to the pavilion. Shahrukh Khan and Sai Sudharsan formed an excellent partnership that buoyed GT’s innings, Siraj broke this partnership. He dismissed Shahrukh Khan at a crucial time and stopped them at 200/3.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans suffered back-to-back setbacks in this game. But they were unlucky again. After scoring 200 runs in the first innings, they struggled with the ball in the second innings. Sai Kishore dismissed Faf du Plessis for 24 runs in the 4th over. That was the only success for GT. The bowlers conceded too many runs. Noor Ahmed conceded 43 runs in 4 overs but failed to secure any wickets. Mohit Sharma gave 41 runs in just 2 overs. Rashid Khan conceded 51 runs in 4 overs. As a result, they suffered a massive 9-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Hyderabad’s struggle and Chennai’s brilliance:

In the second match of the day, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad faced each other in Chennai. After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and bowled first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar created magic with the ball in the third over as he dismissed Ajiyanka Rahane for 9 runs. But they had to wait a little longer for the second wicket. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell formed an effective partnership. But Jaydev Unadkat broke that partnership by dismissing Daryl Mitchell. T. Natarajan dismissed Ruturaj for 98 runs and he dismissed his well-deserved century. They stopped Chennai at 212/3.

While batting in the second innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled throughout. The Chennai bowlers once again showcased their brilliance. Tushar Deshpande was outstanding. He picked up four wickets for 27 runs. He dismissed Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh and SRH captain Pat Cummins. Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana took 2 wickets each. Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each. Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a huge margin of 78 runs.
