IPL 2024 Points Table: Updated After Match Numbers 45 and 46 Between GT and RCB and CSK and SRH

India is suffering from high cricket fever this IPL season. On Sunday, the fever rose even higher because of a doubleheader. In the first half, fans witnessed a clash between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers. In the second game, Chennai Super Kings faced Sunrisers Hyderabad. These blockbuster games blew up the points table. In this article we will examine the changes in the points table.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dominance over Gujarat Titans:

In the 45th match of IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans took on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, Gujarat Titans lost their early wickets but Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan formed a strong partnership and scored 200 runs in 20 overs. However, the RCB bowlers led by Siraj managed to break their momentum and restrict them to 200/3.

In the second innings, after a solid start, RCB witnessed an outstanding performance from Will Jacks, who scored a century in just 10 balls. Alongside him, Virat Kohli played a crucial unbeaten knock of 70 runs and led RCB to a comfortable win by 9 wickets. Despite Gujarat Titans’ strong batting performance, their bowling unit struggled and conceded too many runs, which led to their defeat.

Chennai’s misfortune and Hyderabad’s struggle:

In a thrilling encounter at the M. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad met in the second match of the day. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar opted to bowl first after winning the toss and struck early by dismissing Ajiyanka Rahane for just nine runs. But Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell steadied the ship with an impressive partnership. Mitchell’s crucial half-century and Gaikwad’s impressive 98 runs laid a solid foundation for CSK, but their attempt at a century was stopped by T. Natarajan. Thanks to Shivam Dube’s late success, CSK posted an impressive total of 212/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed in their chase of 213 runs. Despite a brief resistance from Travis Head, the SRH batting line-up collapsed under the pressure of Chennai’s bowling attack. Tushar Deshpande’s extraordinary spell, supported by Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana, restricted SRH to just 134 runs. The comprehensive 78-run win reaffirmed Chennai Super Kings’ dominance in the IPL while Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered another setback in their campaign.

Changes in the points table:

After two classic clashes there are some changes in the points table. After a huge 78-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings got a major boost and moved to the third position in the points table. Others remain in the same position. Their net run rates were affected by the results.
