Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in game 49 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The stage will take place at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where fans gathered in anticipation of an exciting contest.
PBKS captain, Sam Curran, won the toss and elected to field first as he decided to take advantage of the conditions early in the game. While Punjab made no changes to their final XI, the CSK management decided to make a few changes in their playing line-up. The absence of the fast bowling duo, Matheesha Pathirana And Tushar Deshpande, from the CSK squad was remarkable.

What is noteworthy is that Ruturaj mentioned during the toss that although they would have preferred to go first, they were not entirely sure due to the uncertain conditions. He acknowledged that the dew had an impact on defensive results, but still emphasized the team’s impressive performance in the past.
The CSK captain also pointed out that Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande were ruled out due to injury and illness respectively and stressed the importance of getting a good score first.
“We should have gone first, but we weren’t quite sure. It’s always difficult to defend here with a lot of dew but the fact that we won by 78 runs shows a lot about the team but we will miss Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande today. We have to be there early and get a good result. Every game is important. Pathirana has a slight aches, Deshpande is unwell, so we have Shardul and Richard Gleeson makes his debut.” Ruturaj said while throwing.
