Matheesha Pathirana has secured 13 wickets in the current IPL season, making him fifth among the top wicket-takers in the league. His consistent performance also saw him finish in the top 10 wicket-takers of IPL 2023. Recently, Pathirana was seen in a video released by CSK on their YouTube channel where he attributed his success to Dhoni. The Sri Lanka The cricketer expressed that Dhoni was like a father figure to him as the former CSK captain took care of Pathirana and always gave important advice to the player.
“After my father, he (Dhoni) mainly plays the role of my father in my cricketing life because he always takes care of me, gives me advice and tells me what I need to do, similar to how my father does when I am at home .” Pathirana said in the video uploaded by CSK.
He mentioned that Dhoni doesn’t give much direction, either on the field or off. Instead, he gives small pieces of advice that carry significant weight. Pathirana stated that he gains great confidence from these little things.
“He doesn’t say much when I’m on the field and off the field. He only gives small pieces of advice, but they have a big impact. So I gain a lot of confidence through these little things.” explained the 21-year-old.

Mustafizur Rahman leaves the CSK camp with a jersey signed by Dhoni
In the meantime, fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman left India on May 3 to fulfill his national obligations Bangladesh.
