Prime videos Gen V Still trying to figure out how to deal with the sudden death of the main character Chance Perdomo – but there will be no need to recast the role.
The producers behind it The young Spinoff – inspired by the superhero comics – released a joint statement via social media on Sunday, May 5.
“As we continue to grapple with the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is committed to finding the best way to pay respect to his memory,” their post read. “We will not recast the role because no one can replace Chance.”
Before returning to production, the writing team decided to rework the second season, adding: “Instead, we have taken the time and space to re-imagine our storylines for the second season as we begin production in May.” We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
Perdomo brought the role of Andre to life in Season 1 of Gen V. The character was one of Godolkin University’s top-ranking students with the ability to manipulate metal. Andre teamed up with Marie (played by Perdomo’s). Chilling adventures of Sabrina Costar Jaz Sinclair) in the first season to uncover a secret conspiracy at their school.
In the season 1 finale, which aired in November 2023, Marie and Andre and two of their classmates were blamed for a campus-wide bloodbath. The group woke up in a hospital in a sealed room in an unknown location.
The cast was just days away from their first table reading show for Season 2 when it was announced that Perdomo had died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 27.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Chance Perdomo passed away far too early as a result of a motorcycle accident,” a representative for Perdomo said in a statement in March. “Authorities have reported that no other people were involved. His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life were felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will continue among those he loved most. We ask that the family’s wishes for privacy be respected as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
Gen V Producers paid tribute to Perdomo in their own statement, saying: “We cannot be entirely sure about this. For those of us who knew and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented artist and, above all, just a very friendly, loving person. Even if you write about him in the past tense, it doesn’t make sense. We are so sorry for Chance’s family and mourn the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”
