Hyundai Launches Five New Electric SUVs in India: Details

Hyundai is strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) offering in the Indian market. The company has announced plans to introduce five locally produced EV models for the Indian market by 2030.

Creta EV

The first start will be Creta EV, the electrified version of the regular Creta. This electric vehicle is scheduled to be launched in 2025 ahead of the launch of the Maruti Suzuki eVX. Test mules were spotted several times and revealed interesting details. Hyundai has confirmed that production of the Creta EV will begin by the end of 2024. With an expected range of around 500 km, it will feature a similar design to the recently updated ICE Creta. The expected price range for this electric vehicle is between ₹22 lakh and ₹26 lakh.

According to reports, the Creta EV will come with a 45 kWh battery pack. Furthermore, it will adopt its engine from the entry-level variant of the Kona EV, which produces 138 HP and 255 Nm. The Creta EV will compete with the MG ZS EV and upcoming electric vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki eVX, the Tata Curvv EV and Toyota’s signature version of the eVX, the Urban SUV.

Venue EV

Similar to the Creta EV, Hyundai will also launch an electrified version of its sub-4 meter SUV, the Venue. The Venue EV will compete in the highly competitive EV segment, which includes players like Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 400 EV. It will adopt design features and functions of the next-generation Venue, scheduled for launch in 2025. The current Venue, which launched in 2019, received a facelift in 2022, setting the stage for its electric counterpart.

Alcazar EV

With the launch of the Alcazar EV, Hyundai’s EV portfolio will be well diversified and include electric vehicles across all major segments. Next up is the Alcazar EV, a logical evolution of the Creta EV. Before the EV version, we can expect the launch of the updated Alcazar 2024, on which the EV version will be based.
