Ben Affleck does everything he can to support his ex-wife, Jennifer Garneras they mourns her father.
A source tells ET that the 51-year-old actor and director has been “actively working” with his 52-year-old ex-wife while she grieves and has been “supportive across the board.”
“Since her father died, he has looked after her and made sure she knows he is there for her. It was the kids’ grandfather and Ben and him always got along,” the source adds. “He considered it family and always will.”
Garner shared the news Her father, William Garner, “passed away peacefully” last month at the age of 85.
“We were with him singing ‘Amazing Grace’ when he left us (did we carry him over or shoo him away – fair question),” she shared on Instagram. next to a collage of family photos. “Although the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life is not a tragedy, I know that grief is inevitable and unexpected rough edges await.”

“We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength,” she wrote. “For the way he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he came up with the role of the ever-patient girl’s father. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith.”
The source also tells ET that Garner is “in a happy place beyond dealing with this loss” as she and Affleck continue to co-parent their children Violet, 17, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 11.
“Jennifer is doing very well and gets along with Ben and Jen[nifer Lopez]. Jennifer and Jen have become closer, which is nice for both of them. “Jennifer Garner and John Miller are doing well and have talked about taking their relationship to the next level,” adds the source of Garner and Affleck’s respective partners.
The actress was quietly dating John Miller since 2018, while Affleck and Jennifer Lopez54, rekindled their romance in 2021 And got married on July 16 in Las Vegas — three months after their engagement.
“Jen and Ben are doing well and are very happy together. Their children bring them even closer together and keep them humble,” the source shares Affleck and his superstar wife. “Jen and Ben support each other and simply want the best for their relationship and family. Your children love being a blended family and fit well together. They’re all nice and get along well.”
Lopez shares The 16 year old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband, Mark Anthonywho she was married from 2004-2014.

While the public’s reaction to Lopez’s recent releases has been polarizing, the source tells ET that the singer hasn’t been paying much attention to the “outside hate.” “She has always had to deal with criticism and knows that she is misunderstood by some. She realizes that it will always be this way because she is an artist and there are people who don’t understand or know her,” the source shares.
The source adds: “Ben supports Jen 100 percent and remains honest with her. They both know it’s part of the deal and remind each other that you can’t please everyone. They recognize what’s really important and encourage each other and promote each other’s talents and abilities.”
As for the couple’s future, the source shares that Lopez and Affleck are looking for a new place to live. “Jen and Ben would like to get an apartment in New York and are open to buying it. It just depends because it has to be perfect and something they really want to invest in. “Jen is a New York girl at heart and loves being close to where she grew up,” says the source.
