Has YouTuber Gone Back on His Promise to Save the Rare McLaren Senna He Totaled?

  • An influencer crashed a unique McLaren Senna and initially promised to repair it at any cost.
  • Instead, it sits on the lot of an insurance auction, waiting for the day it goes under the hammer.
  • The photos on site show parts that could be saved and some that were completely destroyed.

Edmond Barseghian is the YouTuber/influencer who stuffed this supercar into a Lexus dealership after a donut on Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles. He initially claimed on Instagram that he would fix the car at any cost. He has since made his account private and now we have discovered that the McLaren Senna is on an insurance auction lot.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9-9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(” 6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657″); } });

“The crash occurred on April 28 and quickly attracted attention. It was initially unclear who was driving the car, but on May 1, Barseghian, also known by the nickname Mondi, admitted online that it was him. “I guess we went viral for all the wrong reasons yesterday, this building must have really wanted a collaboration,” he said in a lengthy post about the accident.

On Monday, May 6, a Reddit user spotted the car on the lot of the IAAI Insurance Auction in North Hollywood. The car is also listed on the auction website as “not ready for sale”. It also shows different angles of the damage that we haven’t seen in the past. Perhaps most notably, the entire front clip appears to be gone. The frame rails are clearly visible, but the hood, bumper and fenders are nowhere to be found.

The interior appears to be mostly intact, but the airbags deployed during the crash. The repair can be expensive if it is a normal car, even more so a McLaren. However, the Senna’s back half is mostly untouched, leading to a glimmer of hope for this car in the future.

Photos taken directly behind the car almost completely obscure the extensive damage. This could mean that important parts such as the engine are still fully functional and undamaged. Certainly the exterior body such as the huge fender and the rear bumper are also in good condition. Barseghian had mentioned in his first post about the crash that there were also some upgraded parts. That seems to be an accurate part of his statement, as AP Racing brakes appear at every corner.

The real question is what happens now. Will Mondi buy it back and keep its promise to restore it? Maybe another YouTuber known for wild recoveries like this will take on the task – as Tavarish recently hinted he would try. Of course, it could also happen that the highest bidder wins the contract.
