The BFI is once again at the Cannes Market with its so-called Great 8 – a selection of projects from first- and second-time filmmakers that it will present to international buyers.
Now in its seventh year, the 2024 Great 8 show is funded and produced by the BFI and the British Council, with support from the Great Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign, BBC Film and Film4. The feature film by Portuguese filmmaker Laura Carreira is also on the list When falling, produced by Jack Thomas-O’Brien for Sixteen Films. The full track listing is:

While the 2022 and 2023 editions will take place online, 2024 marks the return of the showcase in a physical format. The films and filmmakers will be in Cannes and presented to the Marché’s international delegates at a special reception in the UK Pavilion on Thursday 16 May, hosted by Baroness Neville-Rolfe DBE CMG, UK Minister of State for Cabinet Offices.
